To prune cucumber plants, wait until they are about 1-2 feet (0.3 -0.6 m) tall, then try to prune every 1-2 weeks to keep them healthy. Pruning them is really easy – just follow the main vine onto the plant and cut or pinch off 4-6 suckers from the bottom of the plant. Suckers are fuzzy shoots that grow laterally from the main vine. Removing these regularly will increase the yield and size of your cucumbers. You should also cut off any damaged cucumbers, vines or flowers on the plant.
